On July 27, 2017, the Shanghai station of the "2017 Building Lightning Protection Technology Exchange Conference" was jointly organized by the Academic Committee of Building Lightning Protection of the Architectural Society of China (ACLP), the Architectural Electrical Branch of the Architectural Society of China, East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., and the Shanghai Lightning Protection Center. Over 140 electrical engineers from design institutes and technical personnel from the lightning protection industry attended the conference.
Sun Lan, Secretary-General of the Architectural Electrical Standards Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Secretary-General of the Academic Committee of Building Lightning Protection of the Architectural Society of China, delivered a report on the "Reform of the National Building Standard System," outlining the current status, reform direction, and specific plans of the standard system for construction projects.
Shen Yuxiang, Chairman of the Architectural Electrical Branch of the Architectural Society of China, delivered a report on "Analysis of Hot Topics in the Building Electrical Industry."
Chen Huahui, Director of the Lightning Protection Product Testing Center of the Shanghai Lightning Protection Center, delivered a report on "Simulation Experiment of Lightning Strike on High-rise Building Glass Curtain Wall."
Shao Minjie, Chief Electrical Engineer of East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., delivered a report on "Research on Comprehensive Lightning Protection Technology for High-rise Buildings."
Zhang Lihua, Director of the Lightning Protection Device Testing Center of the Beijing Lightning Protection Center, delivered a report on "SPD Safety Performance Testing - Arrester (Backup Protector)."
The issue of potential faults in the standalone use of SPD (Surge Protection Device) products became the focal point of discussion at this conference. Experts and representatives from enterprises shared their opinions on how to address this issue through product and technological measures. The necessity of incorporating SPD backup protectors into distribution design was brought to the forefront of the agenda during this meeting. Scholars and corporate representatives will further practice and validate these considerations in future work.
During the second phase of the conference, the special topic report titled "The Past and Present of Backup Protectors" delivered by Li Xin, the General Manager of Xiamen Taihang Technology Co., Ltd., attracted enthusiastic attention from the attendees.
The next session of the Building Lightning Protection Technology Exchange Conference, organized by the Academic Committee of Building Lightning Protection of the Architectural Society of China, will be held in Beijing.
